What is the implant process like?
At Weinstock Dentistry in Orlando, our dedicated staff begins with a thorough evaluation of your medical and dental history, and an implant dentist conducts a full exam of your mouth and area surrounding the missing tooth, including x-rays. Once the exam is complete, your dentist talks with you about your goals and makes recommendations for a comprehensive treatment plan. After answering your questions and listening to your input, you will schedule the actual implant procedure.
During surgery, the dental implants are surgically placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia. The amount of healing time is different for each patient and depends on variables such as the quality and quantity of bone, as well as the type of implant placed. When our implant dentist determines that your implant has healed adequately, the crown, bridge, or denture is placed, completing the process. In some cases, your implant may even be stable enough that the crown can be placed the same day as the implant.

Are there different types of dental implants?
The American Dental Association accepts two types of dental implants: the endosteal and the subperiosteal. Most dental implants placed today are endosteal root form fixtures (essentially a man-made tooth root), though an implant dentist will assess your unique needs. One factor that he will take into consideration in selecting the right type for you is whether your jawbone can adequately support the implant. This can be determined through an exam.
How many dental implants will I need, Dr. Weinstock?
Dental implants are ideal for patients who need one or more teeth replaced, but the exact number of implants will be determined by an implant dentist during the initial exam and included in the treatment plan. Typically, however, one implant is placed for each tooth that will be replaced.
Some of the factors that go into the decision about the number of implants include the quality and quantity of the patient’s bone and the existing anatomy of the bone. Financial considerations are also a factor for some patients. But because we believe that all of our patients in the Orlando area should have the smile they’ve dreamed of, at Weinstock Dentistry, we’re committed to offering payment plans that work with your budget.
Our goal at Weinstock Dentistry is a completely successful procedure, which includes placing enough implants to secure the restorations needed for a healthy, whole smile. It’s a waste of time and money to have an implant fail due to an inadequate number of implants being placed to support the teeth. An implant dentist and the friendly, experienced team at Weinstock Dentistry will develop a plan that takes into account your individual needs and resources.
